mosquito and tick control

Ticks pose a major threat to human and animal health.  Ticks breed on animals and can lay dormant waiting to attach to their host victim.  They lie on blades of grass, under leaves of plants, bark of trees and on structures like fences.  Diseases from ticks in the United States are on the rise. Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Fever are a few.  This article provides more information on mosquito and tick control:   https://www.cdc.gov/cdcgrandrounds/archives/2017/March2017.htm

Things to Reduce Tick Populations:

  • keep grass cut short, including the edges
  • rake and remove leaves and tree branches
  • keep stray animals away
  • treat animals with a preventative tick medicine recommended by your vet
  • fix water leaks and keep the backyard dry
  • remove wildlife that may be bringing ticks
